When a call goes out for a water/lake rescue, our response system includes emergency medical personnel, certified Scuba divers, search and rescue teams, boat and waverunner operators, and nationally certified Swiftwater Rescue Technicians, all working together to give the fastest and most effective rescue response possible to those in need. The Team has been called on several occasions to assist other jurisdictions, including FEMA at Hurricane Floyd.
Our volunteers have the necessary skills to ensure safety while managing the scene and assessing hydrology and river hazards, and implementing boat based rescues, technical rescue systems, contact rescues, victim assessment and stabilization, and much more.
Our Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and Level I and Level II Technicians have the advanced skills necessary to handle some of the more complex problems commonly associated with swiftwater and flood rescue emergencies. The volunteers have in-depth training in incident command and scene management of large scale disasters, night search and rescue management, advanced accessing techniques, and much more.
East Lincoln Rescue Squad was the first to deploy waverunner rescue teams on Lake Norman.
